January 2018 Newsletter
We have had some extremely hot days in PMB and the residents and staff have started swimming in the afternoons.
We admitted two new residents in January, Ryan Orpwood (46) in Sunrise and Neil McLachlan (44) into Stardust. We would like to welcome both of them and their families to the JPH family. Sadly Neil’s dad passed away the day after he was admitted, our condolences to the family.
We would like to thank Denis Meyer for removing 3 truck loads of rubble from JPH property.
The DIY Guy replaced a few broken windows and burst pipes, repaired cupboards and unblocked toilets. The emergency lights have also been fixed and are up and running with the generator when needed. The cold room had a leak, which had to be repaired and refilled with gas. An electrician came out and replaced the lights in the kitchen and dining room.
The Toyota Conquest had a new starter motor fitted and unfortunately the Quantum was in an accident, fortunately no one was hurt.
We would like to thank Parklane Superspar for donating the monthly birthday cake. The monthly birthday party was held for Letho (17) and Michelle (42). Michelle’s mom brought cake on her birthday as well for all the residents.
Dr Kirkby made his weekly visits to the home, treating a few residents for minor ailments and behavioural problems.
Two residents were admitted to hospital, one with severe gastritis, the other with very low blood pressure. Two residents had dental extractions done.
Residents have returned to work at the Abercare Workshop after the holidays.
We will be adding a monthly wishlist to our Newsletter. On our wishlist this month:
- Paper, stationary & chunky wool for the Arts & Crafts Workshop
- Toiletries (Shampoo, Soap, Toothpaste, Deodarant, Toothbrushes)
- Comfortable chairs/couches for the TV lounges
Daphne took leave, Karin and Milly covered her shift.
Letitia Sutton handed in her resignation.
