February 2018 Newsletter
We would like to thank everyone who donated items on our Wishlist. Mr Hattingh donated 5 brand new wheelchairs and Mrs Orpwood a couch. The Green, Hattingh, Hurlston and Mitchley families donated toiletries. Mr Meyer donated some chairs and furniture. Mrs Sutton made a donation towards the Arts & Crafts Workshop.
Thank you to Mrs Hurlston for arranging a donation of Boerewors and Ice Cream from Blair Atholl Kwikspar for a braai for the residents.
The Toyota Quantum went in for repairs after it had been in an accident. It also had its tyres rotated, balanced and aligned at Supa Quick.
The DIY Guy was very busy this month repairing leaking taps, toilets, broken water pipes and light fittings. The 3-wheel lawnmower we use for the Trim Park needed repairs. The coldroom had a blocked outlet pipe which had to be cleared.
Daisy was taken to the State Vet for her rabies injection and had her nails trimmed.
There were quite a few birthdays this month – Athena (49), Russell (41), Craig (45), Wiebike (36), Paul (61), Karen (67), Jolene (39), Wendy (59). Thank you Parklane Superspar for donating the cake for our monthly party. Jolene had a special Barney cake which her family provided on her birthday.
All the residents were all treated to chocolate brownies from Feedem on Valentine’s day.
The hairdresser visited and did the residents haircuts.
Dr Kirkby and Dr Laing visited the Home weekly, residents were treated for different ailments.
Two of the residents went to Mr JH Schiffler for foot and nail treatment. One of the residents went to the dentist for cleaning of her teeth and had one of her wisdom teeth extracted. The Physiotherapist visited the home to do physio on one of the residents. A resident was taken to Grey’s Hospital Dermatology Clinic and another to Townhill Hospital for assessment.
We will be adding a monthly wishlist to our Newsletter. On our wishlist this month:
- Paper, stationary & chunky wool for the Arts & Crafts Workshop
- Toiletries (Shampoo, Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes)
Interviews were held for a new Relief Supervisor. The short listed candidates each spent a day with the residents. We will introduce the new Supervisor in our next Newsletter.
