March 2018 Newsletter
We would like to wish all our family and friends a happy and safe Easter.
It is with great sadness that we inform you that our legend – Peter Bennett passed away on Friday, 23 March 2018. His family were with him at the time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
The Department of Health visited and did their annual inspection of the Home for the renewal of our licence. The boys from Cordwalles Prep School came and played music for the residents.
Thank you to everyone that donated Easter Eggs for the residents and the Hattinghs and Robinsons for sponsoring the Hot Cross Buns.
Parklane SuperSpar visited and brought doughnuts for all the residents to enjoy at tea time.
SWAT Exterminators made their quarterly visit to the home and sprayed for cockroaches.
The DIY Guy fixed a few leaking toilets and sorted out an electrical fault in Sunrise.
Thank you to Mr Hattingh for donating a new washing machine after one of our older machines broke down and was not worth fixing. The petrol lawnmower was taken to PMB Forestry for servicing.
We would like to thank Justin van der Merwe cutting down 2 trees after one had fallen down and Denis Meyer for arranging to remove the branches.
Our kombi went to McCarthy Toyota for its service.
Thank you to Parklane Superspar for donating the monthly birthday cake. We celebrated the following birthdays: Peter B (71), Marc (31), Kelly (26), Peter D (67) and Michael (57). Peter B’s family brought cake for all the residents and staff on his birthday. Peter D had his own party as well.
The residents all enjoyed a braai, thank you to Blair Atholl Kwikspar for donating Wors and Ice-Cream.
The residents had their 6 weekly haircuts.
A few residents were seen by Dr Kirkby on his weekly visits. Most were treated for Upper respiratory infections. One of our residents was admitted to St Anne’s Hospital.
On our wishlist this month:
- Paper, crayons, colouring pencils and colouring books for the Arts & Crafts Workshop
- Toiletries (Shampoo, Soap, Toothpaste, Aqueous Cream, Toothbrushes, Hairbrushes)
- Cutlery (Knives, Forks, Spoons)
Wendy Sokhela started as Relief Supervisor at the beginning of the month. She has settled in well.
Lilian took a few days leave.
